the pledge..the turn..the prestige
While watching The Prestige, pay attention to every detail, for anything could be red herring or a clue, and what you believe to be true can easily be turned on its head or acquire new meaning.
Like any good magician, the director leaves the audience constantly unbalanced, by shifting between the two main leads' viewpoints almost without warning and zooming back and through time and space, yet without sacrificing the drama for mere cinematic gimmickry.
The plot could have ended in a mess in the hands of the unskilful. There are parts that left me confused, wondering how certain plot points could possibly be resolved. But almost everything adds up in the conclusion.
To preserve the suspense to those who had not watch, i shall stop. But i got to say that the show is worth every penny you spent on the ticket.
Quoted from the show: "Are you watching closely?"
And yeah, you have to watch closely to understand the story. You can be lost totally in between.
